Published - Sunday, February 24, 2008 Teachers get 3.9 percent increase The Tomah School District has reached a contract agreement with the union that represents Tomah teachers. Representatives from the district and Tomah Education Association last week agreed to a total package increase of 3.9 percent for both the 2007-08 and 2008-09 school years. The agreement ends a negotiating process that began in July 2007. The agreement must be approved by the Tomah School Board, which meets tonight (Thursday) at Lemonweir Elementary School. The total package increase covers raises in salaries, health insurance, single dental care, long-term care and contributions to the Wisconsin Retirement System. It also includes changes in the salary schedule, an increase in summer school enrichment pay and the co-curricular schedule. The board and TEA also reached an agreement on retirement language and compensation. Language for the school calendar has also been negotiated to allow the district to plan calendars up to five years in advance.
