" I don't think that the clothing that someone wears has any relativity to the type of person that someone is! The truckers rule shirt is just another way that a teacher can identify with students. Children are individuals and what better way to get through to students than to show them that you can relate. I would much rather have someone running the show that can have fun and relate to the kids. I think it is about time that someone is in charge that will not only care about playing by every little rule but will really care about what it takes to relate to our youth of today! I think a lot more will sink in if schools are more fun and creative instead of everything by the book! The teachers that most influenced me and made a lasting impression were the "Stutzman" type! "

" Congratulations Dave
Now maybe THS will start teaching evolution in Biology classes . . . my apologies to the Science department if they have already begun to do so.
If you recall, I had to teach evolution in my Earth Science classes because the two Biology teachers refused to teach it; one because she was a fundamentalist christian and the other because he was afraid of the controversy it might cause. One quarter of the Biology textbook, and the foundation of modern biological thought, was ignored because of ideology and fear. Tomah students deserve a better education.
I know you're not a man to shy away from controversy . . . so have at it Dave . . . good luck.

" Being open-minded and progressive is not a bad thing. "Good Luck" has it right -- who would want the hassle of this job? I'm thankful we have dedicated folks who would do so. Many of those who post negative rants don't do a thing for our society but complain and drain. We don't need that. Raise our kids? Anyone who has worked with kids knows very well there are a lot of parents who don't parent -- and the schools are raising them until social services, the criminal justice system, or the worst-case scenario take over. " These posts epitomize what you are going to be working with in Tomah. You are in a lose-lose situation. You will alienate yourself and hurt your family working with the psychos in this community. Teachers will despise you for your "anti-teacher" decisions, the public will hate you for "playing favorites" with the teachers, and you will accomplish little for the students who you should be serving. Don't use this as a means to boost your ego at the expense of everything close to you.
The only reason the previous president lasted so long was because he lacked any integrity, or moral compass like so many of his kind in this community.
Best case scenario would be to hand it off to M.J. Yes, she is incompetent, but at least she will continue the status quo, and that is exactly what the people of Tomah want.

Never a dull moment! Learning was approached in a fun manner which made students eager to participate and learn. Congratulations Dave! It is about time that someone with a true interest in the students has been elected! "

Don't worry though, the Christians have all the answers, I'm sure if you have questions they would be happy to tell you how to run the school with the help of the Alliance Fund. "

" Well Mr.Stutzman I guess you now have to choose friendship side or administration side and by that I mean Teachers as buddies or Administration .Please realize that as School Board President he was in on this decision not just Fasbender so the Dave that was running for school board in order to" Save the Teachers " I wait patiently to see the changes you will make in Favor of the teachers .Will the drink fest continue to go on or will you have to mature and cut the ties with all of those Teachers?? I give you less than a year as Board President because you won't be able to seperate business from pleasure as it will come back to bite you in the butt.
I would hope the teachers are all over Mr.Stutzman for his role in this decision to not fight for the dignity of this teacher who clearly had policies in place (in which the administration was aware of) but felt it was more important to stick there heads in the sand and run instead of pursuing this lawsuit. " As a former student of Mr. Stutzman and an informed citizen of the School Board's responsibilities, I can whole heartedly support him for this position. Mr. Stutzman possessed a rare ability to truly reach students' eagerness to learn. Unfortunately he ran into too many people in positions of authority that saw his style of teaching as too unconventional. I have total confidence in Mr. Stutzman's ability to turn around the negative politics of the Tomah School District that have been dominated by a select group of radical parents and get back to the most important demographic of the School Board - the students. Congrats Stutz! "

" Dave, "it's the school's job to raise your children," Stutzman, school board President. That is good for the schools!? Obviously, they don't get it, and they may never figure it out. You cannot expect people that refuse to acknowledge the battle before them to protect our children from it! Mr. Stutzman you now possess the greatest responsibility for maintaining a posture of vigilance over the various agendas that will be directed at our children. Please just leave the values and morals education to the parents; it is not your's or the schools' job to raise our children. You provide the education, and teach our children how to learn, not what to believe. Leave the raising of the children to their parents! Also, see what you can do about ensuring that Tomah Schools follow the rules, so we can start to actually avoid litigation. I'm sensing a trend here! "
