NECEDAH— Charges were filed today against a Necedah woman accused of having two teenagers live in a home with a dead elderly woman in the bathroom, according to the Juneau County Sheriff’s Department.

Tammy Lewis, 35, is charged with two counts of causing mental harm to a child and resisting or obstructing an officer in Juneau County Circuit Court. Alan Bushey, 57, faces identical charges.

About 5 p.m. Wednesday, sheriff’s deputies responded to a house for a welfare check for a 90-year-old woman living in the town of Necedah who had not been heard from in a couple of months, according to the sheriff’s department.

A deputy found the woman dead in the bathroom. Authorities estimated she died about two months ago. Three other people, including Lewis and two children, 15 and 12, were living in the home.

" I am not blaming the schools. I am feeling for these children. I hate that no one noticed that they might be living in a troubled home. I hope they were home schooled. That would explain alot. If they did go to school, were they loners? did they participate in anything?
Did they ride a school bus? Did anyone notice anything was wrong? "

" Why do you people who keep ripping on Tomah, always read whats going on in Tomah by reading the Journal and then start obsessing about it. Do you not have a life in the city you live in. Is your life that boring and dull that you feel the need to rip on other people and Towns. Your probably just jealous or just full of hate. Get over it and Get a life!!!! "

" You can't be on the clissic path of blaming the schools even in this case are you? "

" Obviously Mental Illness is a factor here, even if they did continue to collect her Social Security. Did these children go to school? Did any teacher notice things were amiss? Did anyone care? "

Sick people everywhere wrote on May 13, 2008 4:21 PM:

" It's a fact that mentally unstable people live everywhere. This story is talking about someone from NECEDAH not Tomah as the blogger depicted. The least they could of done was to put her in the freezer like the dude from French Island so they could live a normal life (ha!). Poor children...probably scarred for life...and the cycle continues. "

" Here's some cannon fodder for you all. I actually lived in Necedah from ages 15 to 22. So I pretty much grew up in Necedah, and from what I hear through the grapevine, this family is involved in Necedah's very own twisted sect of religious apostacy, the Necedah Shrine. So yes, this may very well be an extraordinarily strange incident caused by members of an actual cult. It is not the first out-of-the-ordinary event from members of the Necedah shrine, and it probably will not be the last, but rest assured that this actual cult in Necedah has nothing the do the with the imagined cult in Tomah! " Good point, like the teacher who was obsessed with that kids painting. Yeah, that was pretty weird. Lucky the policy was changed. "

RE Stepmom wrote on May 12, 2008 10:00 AM:

" The reason for this is a lot simpler than drugs or alcohol. I'm sure Ms. Lewis just wanted to continue collecting the lady's social security check. "

" The people of Tomah can blame what they do on drugs and alcohol but, what is the reason for this strange behavior?
I have always said that there must be something in the water in the Necedah/Adams area. "

How sad wrote on May 9, 2008 8:40 PM:

" The woman probably died of old age but they wanted what little bit of SS income she had. How sad the children did not report this sooner being one is 15. The smell most have been awful, not to mention an occupied bathroom for 2 months!!! "

" Tolerance needed. that is all. "
