Letter: Child-like behavior on town board

After attending the Ridgeville annual/monthly meeting on Monday, May 5, the caption from the back page of the County Line (May 1st edition) keeps coming back to me. The caption read, “Don’t Let Anyone Pull the Wool Over Your Eyes,” (real appropriate for this occasion). Chair Luethe was the main spokesman.

The annual report was very “vague,” not at all like the reports our previous clerk compiled herself and signed by her, an accomplishment to be proud of. By the way, we wonder who really prepared this report. The fact that the title read: “Town of Ridgeview” leads me to believe someone unfamiliar wrote it up. Or possibly the name of our township has been changed to disguise who we really are, or it just sounds better with the “view” and not the “ville.”

Under expenditures, nowhere do we see any wages listed. The first item listed states: Board expenses - $2,702. Amazing - so little spent. We do not see any wages for: the Town Board, phone bills, electric, gas, diesel, oil, the new computer, office expenses, snowplow/truck, machinery repairs, supplies, assessor, Dept. of Revenue, election expenses, and others. We don’t expect every little thing to be itemized, but we sure would like to have some idea as to where all our tax money is being spent or wasted. We did notice the big deficit for the year at ($87,717). What will it be next year? Also, if you take special notice you will see that there are two deposits in transit (taxes not yet in the bank), but listed as cash. We really don’t have a clue what was spent on necessities (the tax levy for 2008 is $117,484/only $29,767 left for budget).

As for our chairman - what will be his next “scheme”? What a disgrace to the town board that served us so well for many years. Mr. Luethe forgot, the legal expenses came with him and Krueger. There had not been a need for legal services until their lawsuit. On March 14, 2007, Case No. 06-cv-318 filed a stipulation and Order for Dismissal: which read as follows: That the petitioners (Luethe, Giraud and Krueger) and the respondents (Sletten, Luxton and Neumann), shall dismiss any and all claims they may have against each other and by signing this stipulation, they agree to release each other from any and all claims that they may have against each other with respect to matters involving the aforementioned special election and recount and all pleadings heretofore filed. This document was signed by Attorneys John Claypool, David Abt and Robert Mubarak and filed in Monroe County Court with Carol Thorsen, Clerk of Courts, ordered by Judge Michael Rosborough, Circuit Court Judge (lawsuit was brought on by anti-wind group after losing the recall election, Aug. 15, ’06, to old town board).

This proved interesting to the newcomers attending a town board meeting at Ridgeville for the first time. It brought out the “true colors” of Chairman Mike Luethe and Supervisor Steve Krueger.

Selfishness and child-like behavior best describes the situation.

Fernnell Becher,

Norwalk

" Fernell? Why don't you just give it a rest. What's done is done and your incessant whinning in public isn't helping to reunite the residents of the township (as you had mentioned that you were trying to do in one of your earlier posts). There's enough negativity in the world. Please take the time to sit back and look at what you are doing and how other perceive you. The old board is no longer representing the people of the township and it may just be better that way. Please try to accept change and add to the experience of life by coming up with constructive ideas instead of the destructive bitter words that only lead to seperation and hatred. Think! "

" We all know who wrote back all the lies against Fernell Becher. That person is the ignorant one who dont know what it is to be a Christain or she couldnt sit and tell such lies. God knows who is telling the truth. The new town board dont know how to run a meeting its a big laugh.
Every one around knows how stupid you all are.
Dont waste your ink any more.People all around are laughing at you all more every meeting you pretend to know how to run. "

The rest of the story wrote on May 19, 2008 2:51 PM:

" The only child-like behvior exhibited in Ridgeville comes from a few selfish, uncivilzed people who believe that their opinions are the only opinions of value in the community. It is sad to see this type of ignorant behavior surface again and again. One would think that after all of the issues brought up about the recall, the clerk at the recall and the questions surrounding the previous board, Fernnell would be a tad bit more contrite:she is related to them after all. "

" The only child-like behavior is being exhibited by the letter writer. Her sister and brother-in-law were running the show before this Town Board was voted in. She fears this new administration because it is run professionally. Two thirds of this Board are intelligent, hard working people who are truly interested in what is best for all of the community, not just the few who are related to the Board members. Congratulations for a job well done! "

" The letter writer apparently thinks that spelling is more important than having correct figures on an annual report. Her sister, the clerk who did the previous annual report, supplied incorrect figures. She was also cited by the WI Elections Board of having acted contrary to law on more than ten violations during the recall election. The case she sites said nothing about reimbursement for legal expenses the town should never have paid. "

" Child-like behavior on town board is rightfrom Fernnell Becher! Whining when you dont get your way, behaving rudely when others are speaking, refusing to get along with others, calling people names, and disrespecting the opinions of others is truly child-like behavior! "

" Mr. Luethe forgot, the legal expenses came with him and Krueger.

WRONG!!! The expenses came when the former Town Clerk (Fernnell Bechers sister), acted unlawfully and abused the discretion of her office. The quotes come from the Wisconsin State Election Boards finding concerning the election to which Ms Becher alludes.

The annual report was very vague, not at all like the reports our previous clerk compiled herself and signed by her, an accomplishment to be proud of. The previous clerk (her SISTER) rarely came to town meetingsRoyce Kortbein (the former TREASURER) took the minutes. Not only that, but the minutes were so vague that the minutes for an entire year would take up less room than the minutes recorded for ONE MEETING by Janis!

The so-called vague report included a letter from the accountants and the state of Wisconsin explaining the mistakes made by Fernnells sister on the previous budget.

The only thing vague is whether Fernell actually read the reportor heard the PUBLICLLY given explanations of it!
