" You are all too fast to judge my son and the others involved in this incident! Just to give the heads up my son is on average an A B student, he usually stays clear of trouble and makes positive choices. Don't act like a suspension is just a minor thing. My son loves school! The item that they were huffing was hairspray which was brought to my sons locker. He admitted his mistake and is paying for it all summer long. The scary thing about these substances are that kids don't look at household products as a drug! My son said that he knew that he shouldn't do it but figured that it was just hairspray! He didn't think of it as a drug or something thatdangerous or illegal. Since this incident I have done alot of internet research to show my son the seriousness and dangers involved in something like this. I am glad that all of the kids are alright( they were all between 13 and 14). As for my son he was immedialtely suspended and could not go to the end of the year trip or say goodbye to friends or teachers that he will be leaving as he goes on to high school. He is spending all summer with his father and I being closely monitored (no friends houses, no friends at our house, and plenty of lawn mowing, cleaning and any other jobs that we can scavange up for him). I have always taught m children the dangers of drugs and the consequences that drugs can have on their lives. I guess I just never thought of how dangerous our own household products are. I hope that this incident has raised awareness to other parents because I know that this is becoming something that many students are begining to experiment with! Please don't judge anyone! Although the school may have only given suspension we are making sure our son has learned his lesson and being disiplined for his bad choice. His summer is not going to be very fun this year! Parents please talk to your children about how dangerous (even deadly) these household products can be! "

" This is dangerous activity. I caught my child doing it many years ago with other's at the TMS, I was the ONLY parent that actually sent my child and made her stay for treatment. If these kids are doing this, parents SHOULD have enough common sense to send their kid through treatment. Come on parents, don't "just let" the juvenile system take care of it, do some action on your own. Course back when my incident happened the article that came out in the paper said that only one child went to treatment, like she was the only one doing it, NO, the other parents gave in to their kids is what happened. But the news is heresay most of the time anyway. Most parents don't have the incentive to help their children, leave it up to the county.....TREATMENT is a better answer!!! Community service doesn't do much. "

" If you are labeling the troops as trouble makers then go serve your country and maybe you would have a better understanding what these folks go through. How ARROGANT, heartless and insensitive for you to disgrace our veterans, who are over their getting shot at, you sitting in your nice large home with the wide screen TV, go serve your country and MAYBE, just maybe you would have some compassion for what veteran's go through. If you don't like the VA, maybe they should move it to a town that appreciates it!!! What a fool. "

" This arrest following a situation at the Middle School regarding students & "huffing" Now mind you I won't say their names, after all they are only 14, but nothing happened to this kids except for an end of the year suspension & 1 day at the beginning of next year. Whooopie - I think that if they do something illegal - this incident took place right in the Middle School. I do believe harsher punishment is needed. Suspended from school - HELLO - vacation for the kids. That's some kind of punishment. I say put the snots to work cleaning up ditches & community service for Monroe County. Let's see if they pull that crap again. "

" Maybe the kids who didn't get their names in the paper are connected--or maybe they are just juvenile offenders, in which case their names are not made public by the arresting organization. It's the law. By the way, how stupid are those kids--smoking the wacky on school grounds? What idiots without fully developed brains--a good case for keeping them in juvenile court. "

" This is a typical LIBERAL REACTION.
First off how about they get held to the letter of the LAW like everyone else. The Judges are way to easy on on the kids and the kids know it
Holding high school kids hands and singing happy songs won't cure this problem.
Time to quit cuddling these kids and throw them into JAIL for a while maybe they will get the IDEA that they must also abide by the rules that everyone else has to.
This is NOT A NEW PROBLEM IN TOMAH I went to school in the 70's and about half the class was pot heads(DEADBEATS) most outgrew this stage and went on to productive lives, some still sit around doing drugs and have passed it on to there kids
The Drug Problem is not going to regress with happy hand holding volunteers, praising them for not using today or tomorrow, they need some hard wake the hell up kind of treatment.
Tomah has always had drug problems and Drinking problems and always will, we can make all the laws we want and do all the volunteering we want but the bottom line is this has been passed down from generation to generation and starts at home. It also don't help that many of the parents go celebrate a sporting event win of the THS at the bars. "

" What about the other kids in the car? ("a vehicle occupied by students") How many were there? Why were they not taken into cusody? Did they all dump their stash on this one kid? Leaving him to literally hold the bag? Who is the owner/driver of the car? The student taken into custody was a passenger, why wasn't the driver taken into custody? "

" Who are you to call a student in YOUR community a deadbeat? Are you qualified to make this statement? It's so easy to post a judgmental comment on the Internet. There is a drug problem in our community, what are YOU doing to help the students at our school? How many hours have YOU volunteered of your time, to help educate the kids in our community on the dangers of drugs, or do you leave it up to someone else to handle? We ALL must take time out of our busy lives, to be there for our children. Deadbeat absolutely not! A person who needs guidance, support, and our prayers is more like it! "

" We have to wake up here. Just because everything looks "rosy" on Sunday mornings doesnt mean we should allow this to continue.
Two drug arrests for a drug house, a pound of dope, pills .... on Jackson St. Now this.
Look out your windows Tomah and let them know your watching.
Now the kids are ahead of the adults in town in their character and willingness to turn in these deadbeats. "
