Warrens residents and visitors to the nearby Three Bears Resort and Jellystone Park will have a new healthcare option for treatment of minor illnesses and injuries beginning June 16.

Officials at Tomah Memorial Hospital had said that their new Warrens Walk-In Clinic will open for business at 9 a.m. on Monday.

“We’re pretty excited about the fact that patients can just walk in with minor illnesses, bumps, scrapes and those things, and we’ll be able to take care of them right away with no appointment necessary,” Tomah Memorial Hospital Chief Executive Officer Phil Stuart said.

The clinic, which is a 4,000 square foot building located on the east edge of the village along County Highway EW and Interstate 94 near Jellystone Park, is scheduled to be open seven days a week from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. during the summer months. The clinic will be staffed by three to four people, including a receptionist, nurses’ aide, and advanced practice nurse practitioners who are licensed to write prescriptions and diagnose and treat illnesses like sore throats, ear infections and upper respiratory infections.

Routine laboratory tests will also be conducted at the clinic in addition to X-rays, which Stuart said will be technologically linked to Tomah Memorial.

“The clinic is a way by which we can expand our services to an area that has been identified as heavy need and makes our services here at the hospital that much more efficient for patients who really need an emergency room setting,” Stuart explained.

Groundbreaking took place in December on the structure built under the direction of general contractor Dippen Management Company.

“All in all we’re very pleased with the project,” Stuart said. “It came through as expected and is a very nice building and a great asset to the Warrens area and to healthcare in Monroe County.”
