Ontario man dies of injuries from crash

A rural Ontario man died from injuries suffered in a motorcycle accident on Hwy. 131 in the town of Whitestown on Friday.

Larry D. Dahn, 61, was driving his motorcycle northbound near Dobbs Valley Road approaching a construction zone. The road was being repaired after recent flooding.

A van driven by Tina M. Gnewikow, 29, Ontario, was southbound on Hwy. 131 and was directed into the northbound lane by highway crews, according to the Vernon County Sheriff’s Department.

Dahn’s motorcycle sideswiped the Gnewikow vehicle and then struck a bridge.

Dahn was transported to Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center in La Crosse by the Ontario Ambulance. Dahn passed away Sunday from his injuries.

It is the fourth traffic fatality in Vernon County this year.

Assisting at the scene was Tri-State Ambulance and the Ontario Police, Fire and Ambulance.

The accident remains under investigation.
