The former mayors of Onalaska and Menasha, a Fort McCoy official and the administrator of a village in Columbia County are the four finalists for Tomah City Administrator.
Tomah Mayor Ed Thompson released the names of the four finalists late Thursday morning. They are:
* James Bialecki, former mayor of Onalaska.
* Joseph Laux, former mayor of Menasha.
* Dennis Linn, Administrator/Clerk in the village of Poynette.
* Darrell Neitzel, Senior Logistics and Public Works Manager at Fort McCoy.
Twenty-two people applied for the position. That number was pared to six, and the six semifinalists submitted video presentations to Thompson and the Tomah City Council.
Thompson was impressed with the depth of the applicant pool.
“I was amazed at how many applicants we got and the degree of their qualifications,” Thompson said.
Bialecki completed his fourth term as Onalaska mayor in April. He served from 2000-08. Laux also recently completed his final term as mayor Menasha, where he served from 1988-2008.
Tomah Mayor Ed Thompson said the four will be interviewed June 18, and a successor will likely be named before current City Administrator John Rusch begins his retirement July 3.
“We’re going to meet each one for a half hour, and hopefully we can make a decision shortly after that,” Thompson said.
