The Tomah Public Library is beginning its summer reading program today (Monday), which will run through the middle of August.
The name of the program is Catch the Reading Bug, and will be held on Mondays and Tuesdays through August 15. The program includes story time for children in first grade or younger, which meets at 10 a.m. for story time and crafts on Monday and Tuesday. Children in second through fifth grade meet for the Lunch Bunch at 11 a.m. for story time and crafts, and are encouraged to bring a lunch.
A lunch bunch for grades six through eight will be held on only Tuesdays at noon. The program ends with pizza, cake and a water balloon party at 11 a.m on August 15.
Aside from the summer reading program, the Wednesday night story time will continue. Wednesday night story time begins at 6:30 p.m., and the Library invites those in attendance to wear his or her pajamas.
There will also be three special programs throughout the summer. On July 8 at 12:30 p.m., at the Area Community Theatre located next to Western Technical College on the corner of Kilbourn Avenue and East Milwaukee Street, there will be a special program about honeybees and beekeeping. On July 23 at 10:30 a.m., also at the Area Community Theatre, is a special program with Bruce the Bug Guy. A butterfly release will be held at the Library on August 5 at noon.
