Gerald G. Thiemke
Gerald G. Thiemke, 63, of Tomah, died Wednesday, July 9, 2008, at Tomah Memorial Hospital. He was born April 27, 1945, to Arthur and Bernice (Prell) Thiemke in Sparta. He worked several years for Equity Livestock and also farmed for many years on the family farm.
Gerald enjoyed local history and was a Monroe County historian. He worked on the Civil War Book Committee and was a member of the Monroe Juneau Jackson County Genealogical Workshop serving as treasurer. He also was currently serving on the Oakdale sesquicentennial celebration committee.
He is survived by his mother, Bernice Thiemke of Tomah; a brother, Bruce (Kathy) of Endeavor; two nieces, Kristin (Christopher) Cushing of Palatine, IL, and Susan (Michael) Dettmann of Watertown; two nephews, Daniel (Luciana) Thiemke of Sun Prairie and Steven (Jacque) Thiemke of Oshkosh; five grand-nieces and grand-nephews, aunts, uncles, other relatives and many friends from the Historical Society and Genealogical Workshop.
He was preceded in death by his father, Arthur.
Memorial services will be held Wednesday, July 16, at 11 a.m. at the Sonnenburg Family Funeral Home, Tomah. Burial will be in the Warren-Mills Cemetery.
Relatives and friends are invited to call at the Sonnenburg Family Funeral Home, 801 E. Monowau St., from 10 a.m. on Wednesday until the time of the service.
