Andrew G. Schwall

Andrew G. Schwall, 62, of Gages Lake, IL, died April 29, 2008, in Elgin, IL. He was a loving father, brother, uncle, Godfather and a Vietnam veteran.

He is survived by a son, Stephen; siblings Judy Shiflet of New Jersey, John of Illinois, Mary of Madison, and Matt of Tomah; nieces, nephews and a special Godson, Kevin.

Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 26, at the Dannavang Cemetery, rural Warrens, with military honors by Camp Douglas American Legion Post 133.

The Torkelson Funeral Home assisted the family with local arrangements.

Joan G. Tremmel

Joan G. Tremmel, 72, of 5477N E. Echo Lake Road, Mercer, died Saturday, July 19, 2008, in Ironwood.

The former Joan Schill was born Nov. 15, 1935, in Auburndale, WI, daughter of the late Wenzel and Clementine (Weiler) Schill. She attended St. Mary’s Parish School there, and graduated from Auburndale High School in 1953. She then was employed in waitress work in Marshfield for a number of years.

She was married to Ralph A. Tremmel on June 30, 1955, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Auburndale, by the Rev. Steinhauser. The couple moved to Sheboygan, where Joan worked as a waitress for a short time and then became a licensed realtor. Moving to Tomah in 1972, she worked in real estate and was also in charge of volunteers at the Veterans Administration Hospital. Moving to Mercer in 1994, Joan was employed as a realtor for Tom Ponik Realty, retiring in 2000.

She was a member of St. Isaac Jogues Catholic Church in Mercer and the Wisconsin Realtors Association. She enjoyed fishing, camping, traveling and cooking, and was an accomplished accordion player. One of her greatest pleasures was spending time with her family and grandchildren.

Surviving are her husband of 53 years, Ralph, of Mercer; five children, Vicki (Curt) Drinkwine, Forest Lakes, AZ, Bonnie (Ken) Eversgerd, Carrollton, GA, Ron (Jill) Tremmel, Pewaukee, Carol (Jim) Schmitt, Mazomanie, and Lisa (Greg) Nelson, Lodi; nine grandchildren, Jennifer (Nick) Shepherd, Douglasville, GA, Jacqueline Peterson, Douglasville, Katelyn, Elizabeth and Benjamin Tremmel, all of Pewaukee, Molly and Curtis Schmitt, both of Mazomanie, and Grant and Samantha Nelson, Lodi; one great-grandson, Gabriel Shepherd, Douglasville; two brothers, Matt Schill, Wisconsin Rapids, and Jerome Schill, Auburndale; three sisters, Catherine Bathke, Wisconsin Rapids, Margaret Mayer, Marshfield, and Mary (Harvey) Pongratz, Minocqua; numerous nieces and nephews; and sisters-and-brothers-in-law, Beatrice Schill, Arpin, Laura Schill, Vesper, Evelyn Franz, Marshfield, Laurelda and Louis Gadke, Loyal, Madelyn and Emil Mech, Port Edwards, and Harry and Dorothy Tremmel, Newald.

Besides her parents, Joan was preceded in death by three brothers, Jack, Ted and Fred Schill.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, July 25, at noon, at St. Isaac Jogues Catholic Church in Mercer, with the Rev. Michael Hayden, celebrant.

Rite of Committal and interment will follow in the Mercer Cemetery. Luncheon will be served in the parish hall immediately upon return from the cemetery.

Relatives and friends may call at the church from 10:30 a.m until noon on Friday.

Pallbearers will be John and Robert Franz, Ryan Herman, Dick and Tony Mayer, and Paul Schill.
