The Tomah High School girls tennis team posted a 1-1 record in its last two matches and is poised to take a winning dual record into the MVC tournament Sept. 29.

Tomah eked out a 4-3 road victory at Holmen Tuesday before losing a 6-1 decision at home to La Crosse Logan Thursday.

The two matches left Tomah with a 3-2 MVC mark and 8-3 overall record. The Timberwolves have one MVC match and one non-conference match left on their regular season schedule.

At Holmen, the two teams split the four singles matches, but Tomah won two of the three doubles matches to nail down the victory.

Heather McCarty and Erica Deming won a critical tiebreaker in the first set en route to their victory at number-three singles.

Lindsey Dietzman produced Tomah’s only victory against Logan. All three doubles matches went to three sets, but all three were won by the Rangers.

The MVC meet will be played at UW-La Crosse. The champion will be determined by a combination of regular-season wins and tournament points. Teams earn points for each match won by a player/team during a regular-season dual plus points awarded during the tournament.
