The Tomah High School girls tennis team nailed down a winning dual record in the Mississippi Valley Conference with a 7-0 victory over Sparta Tuesday at Sparta High School.
A day earlier, Tomah defeated Viroqua, 7-0, in a non-conference match at Tomah High School.
The two results concluded the regular season and left the Timberwolves with a 10-4 overall record.
Against Viroqua, not only did Tomah sweep all three doubles matches, none of Tomah’s doubles teams lost a game. All three matches were 6-0, 6-0 shutouts.
The Sparta matches were generally more competitive, although Tomah won all of them in straight sets.
The Timberwolves won 23 of their 42 matches during the MVC season and will head into Monday’s MVC meet in La Crosse with 23 team points.
The champion will be determined by a combination of regular-season wins and tournament points. Teams earn one point for each match won by a player/team during a regular-season dual plus points awarded during the tournament.
