Brianna Francis delivered an 18-hole score of 93 Wednesday, but it wasn’t enough to keep the Tomah High School girls golf season alive.
Francis, a junior, fell four strokes short of qualifying for sectional play as an individual at the WIAA Division 1 Tomah Regional held at Hiawatha Golf Club.
The top four teams and top three scorers from non-qualifying teams advanced to next week’s sectional at Hayward. The state meet is in Madison Oct. 13-14 at University Ridge.
Freshman Megan McGinnis was Tomah’s number-two golfer. She turned in her best performance of the season with a 108.
Shelby Hoeft scored a 109, and Megan Kennedy-Pierce shot a 111.
La Crosse Central/La Crosse Logan needed a playoff against Stevens Point to secure the fourth and final sectional berth.
