Jayvee gridders defeat Central, Onalaska

The Tomah junior varsity football team owns a 4-2 record after victories over La Crosse Central and Onalaska.

Tomah defeated Central, 36-22, Sept. 29. Tailback Tanner Costello had two touchdown runs. Mitch Weiland, Cliff Bartholomew and Nick Markin scored the other touchdowns.

Tight end Matt Schack scored a two-point conversion catch from quarterback Weiland, and placekicker Corey White added four extra points.

Monday, Tomah routed Onalaska, 34-8. Costello, Josh Von Haden and Nick Markin crossed the goal line on touchdown runs. Schack and White caught touchdown passes from Weiland. White converted on four of five extra points.

The jayvees play their final home game Monday against La Crosse Aquinas in a 5:30 p.m. start at E.J. McKean. The Timberwolves conclude their season Oct. 20 with a trip to Sparta in another 5:30 p.m. kickoff.
