Two Tomah High School baseball players have been named Honorable Mention by the Mississippi Valley Conference.
Senior J.J. Johnson and sophomore Wyatt Blado earned spots on the league’s all-conference team. Johnson was the starting catcher and cleanup hitter until a late-season injury.
Blado began the season as the starting leftfielder and moved behind the plate when Johnson was hurt. Blado was the team’s most consistent power hitter and blasted a three-run homer in Tomah’s WIAA Regional tournament semifinal at La Crosse Logan.
La Crosse Central won the conference title and took five of the 10 first-team spots. Players weren’t listed by position.

The second team: Bobby Kachel, senior, Aquinas; Vince Kube, freshman, Logan; Colin Clayburn, senior, Logan; Cody Pfennig, senior, Central; J.J. Blaschke, senior, Central; Josh Nichols, senior, Sparta; Josh Knoll, senior, Sparta; Chris Cayler, junior, Onalaska; Jordan Guth, senior, Onalaska; Trey Candahl, junior, Holmen.

Central swept the individual awards. Warren was the player of the year, Ghelfi was the pitcher of the year and Kent Van Egtern was the coach of the year.
