Special beer permits for the Budweiser Dairyland Super National Truck and Tractor Pull and Monroe County Fair will be considered at tonight’s (Monday) Tomah Committee of the Whole meeting.

Both the Tomah Veterans Association and MC Support Service LLC have applied for $10 permits for the events which are held in June and July, respectively. The latter organization is connected with the Monroe County Agricultural Society, promoters of both events.

The Ag Society and the Veterans Association have been at odds over the permits. The Ag Society’s insurance carrier is concerned over liability and feels that organization should own the permit. The veterans’ group, including American Legion Post 201, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1382 and the Tomah chapter of the Disabled American Veterans, contends that it can obtain additional liability coverage if necessary, adding that it has had the permit since 1946.

The Veterans organization has asked that consideration of permits for the events be tabled for 30 days.

The meeting begins at 6:30 p.m. in council chambers on the second floor of the municipal center.

Also on the agenda are a resolution which would authorize special assessments for the 2010 Hollister Avenue project and approval of the city’s proposal for Shared Ride Taxi Services.
